In Runescape, higher levels unlock more opportunities, provide a broader array of available tasks, quests and activities. In general, having a higher level should mean that you are a superior player to your peers who have slightly or significantly lower stats, but that is not accurate 100% of the time. This guide, consisting of 7 tips will help you find ways to level up quickly. Since levelling up is a hard grind, some knowledge should be welcome, right? Without further ado, let’s begin!
Guides are the best sources of knowledge about Runescape, other than yourself. Players who achieved success in certain aspects of the game or maxed out every skill do share their experience all over the web. From video instructions on Youtube to the most detailed written guides, their knowledge is available to you, the player! There are tons of guides, but some of them get updated because new items or mechanics get introduced to Runescape now and then. Read about how to go from 1 to 99 in Runescape 3’s latest skill Invention or follow the good ol’ time-tested patterns to max fishing in OSRS.
Don’t forget about quests
Players tend to overlook quests, but they do a great many things for players. Some quests only give out small rewards like (Cook’s assistant, Romeo and Juliet etc.) but others not only familiarise you with the map but also hand out sexy rewards. Even though quests like Monkey Madness or Desert Treasure can become so hard, you will be begging for a break; the rewards are worth it. For example, Monkey Madness will give you the ability to wield a D Scimmy for more dynamic combat and also hand out a total of 110 thousand XP in all of the melee combat skills. So do quests, they’re worth your time!
Join a clan
Now, this comes in handy a bit later on, but clans are not just a Runescape community. You will meet some real people who will be more than happy to help you out. Plus, you could go on common activities together to bond irl and:
- Get better loot
- win more PK fights
- get more XP
amongst many other things.
Try to create an agenda/schedule
If you have a clear goal, for example: to reach 99 crafting. This is not a real goal until you know exactly what you need to obtain and achieve it. For 99 crafting (you can calculate individually also), you are going to need:
- To craft 944,000 leather gloves
- Spin over 868,000 flax into bowstrings
- Make close to 521,000 ropes (from level 30)
- Craft around 305,000 fishbowls (from level 42)
- Cut more than 120,700 diamonds (from level 43)
You can also see how much needs to be done to progress by using Runescape calculators. For this crafting estimation, RuneHQ’s calc was used.
This calculation only shows how much items need to be produced, but it ignores the fact that gathering also takes time… Try to see how much time you consume by spinning 1000 flax, cutting 100 gems and thus you will find the most effective methods. Gathering resources or purchasing gold – that’s up to you. Just know that the latter approach has much quicker results.
Don’t hesitate to buy some additional gold if you need it.
Additional gold helps in a lot of ways. There is Runescape gold for sale online. Simply select the amount you wish to buy, proceed to a secure and safe payment screen and wait for the order to arrive. If we look at crafting 1-99 progress in OSRS, an additional 100 mil GP can be enough to provide substantial progress. For that amount, you should be able to get anywhere around 20-50 million flax, 30-35 thousand uncut diamonds, or 600-700 thousand of molten glass (for fishbowls and glass crafting). Without purchased gold, you can last up to a few hundred hours longer than with it.
Look for activities that result in multiple-area XP gains
Fighting giants is one of the best ways for low-level players to earn melee XP, ranged XP, mage XP, hitpoints XP and also prayer XP (big bones). Fishing and cooking go hand-in-hand along with woodcutting and firemaking. Those activities have additional benefits since you hit two (or more) birds with one stone.

Overnight sessions are effective on much fewer occasions than you might think. It’s better to have a system and patiently follow it for the best results. Also, trust this article, because why not?
